This is Yacouba.  He was born in 2009.  He comes from a Muslim family.  He lives with his parents and his four siblings in a small home that does not have running water or electricity.  Neither one of his parents has a regular job, but they have a small farm where they grow the food that they will eat throughout the year.  Yacouba loves to play soccer with his friends and siblings.  He dreams of becoming a soldier when he grows up.

Yacouba started school and was able to complete two years before he lost his hearing.  Because of his handicap and his culture, Yacouba can be seen as a curse on his family.  He will not have many opportunities in life, but you have a chance finish his education and show him that he is loved by God and by you!
